• The most important thing to remember about the ethical dilemma essay is the word DILEMMA! A dilemma does not have a clear-cut answer. Typically, an ethical dilemma can arise from when doing something that is ethically right can lead to a bad consequence or when doing something ethically wrong can lead to a good consequence.

• Avoid choosing the easy way out at all costs. The ethical dilemma essay is designed to show how you STRUGGLED with the dilemma. What was going through your mind? What were the drawbacks to each choice? Why did you ultimately decide to go in the direction you did? What were the consequences after you made your decision? How have you been shaped by this decision?

• Choose a fairly recent dilemma. A dilemma from many years ago will not be as relevant to the admissions committee as a recent dilemma.
