Typically, you will be asked to list one or several of your greatest accomplishments. A few things to consider when writing this essay:

• How did you work towards achieving the accomplishment? What steps did you take? What obstacles did you encounter? What were people’s reactions as you worked towards the accomplishment?

• Why was the accomplishment so important? How was your accomplishment viewed by others? If it was a professional accomplishment, how did it impact your company? Can you measure it in concrete terms? If it was a personal accomplishment, how did it affect your life? Be specific!

• It is tough to know the balance between not overplaying and not underplaying your accomplishment. Sometimes it helps to bring others opinions into your essay. For instance, instead of saying that you became a great leader in your company, talk about your managers comments on your leadership abilities.

• When detailing your achievements, highlight the qualities of the achievement that you believe are important to the school to which you are applying.
